Q1. Why am I being charged a deposit? How will I be charged? When will I get it back?
A. Credit check and/or deposit is required for new customers (and customers with less than six (6) months of payment history) who lease more valuable Comcast equipment or request Comcast Digital Voice services with a new phone number. If you select a credit check, you may also be asked to pay a partial deposit. You may bypass the credit check, however you will be required to pay thefull deposit. The full amount of any deposit will be credited to your account balance after twelve (12) months, as long as the account has been in good standing for the previous six (6) months.
Q2. What is included in my one-time charge? How will I be charged?
A. One time charges can include installation fees, activation charges, pro-installs, additional outlet activations and Comcast Digital Voice activation. These fees can be related to a single service such as unlimited voice or bundles including voice. These charges will be applied at checkout and will appear on your first bill.
Q3. Why do you need my Social Security Number? Will this affect my credit score?
A. Your social security number is used to perform a credit check and may impact your credit score. The credit check will determine if a deposit will be needed.
Q4. I just moved to this address, why am I being charged for household debt?
A. Household debt is debt that is associated with the address where service will be installed. This could be your debt or the debt of a previous occupant of the house. If the debt is associated with past service you had with Comcast, you will need to pay this debt prior to ordering service. If this debt is associated with a previous or current occupant of the household, you will need to visit a Comcast service center to verify this is not your debt.
Q5. When will my credit card be charged?
A. Your credit card will be charged with any deposits, personal debt or household debt that you may owe upon the ordering of your service. All one time fees and monthly service charges will be included in your first monthly Comcast bill.
Q6. Why am I being required to pay for professional installation, can I self-install?
A. Many of our plans offer self-install kits. For these plans, you can be offered to choose to professionally install or be provided with a self-install kit, however, some services require a professional installation. Past Comcast history can also factor into whether you are or are not offered the option to self-install.
Q7. What is included in a self-install kit? When will I receive it?
Comcast offers a variety of options to self-install your services. Each SIK comes with everything you need to quickly and easily set up your devices and activate your services.
